Rollermonkey Design Group

The roots of the name Rollermonkey are shrouded in history.

The Legend of SP Rollermonkey

The origins of the Rollermonkey go back to 1988.

In that year, we were on a family outing; my wife and I plus our two kids, aged 5 and 8. Garrett, our older child, was exploring the site of a hill behind our home in the Virginia foothills. Somewhere near the top of the small rise he found an object like a huge ball bearing. He came running down the hill to show us and wanted to know what it was.

It was about an inch and a half in diameter and shiny with small spots of rust. Well, I had no idea what it was so I told him it was a Rollermonkey's Eyeball.

Of course, this just prompted more questions about what Rollermonkeys were. That evening for his bedtime story I told him the story of the Rollermonkeys; invisible, mischief loving "monkeys" that rolled on rollers instead of walking.

Years later I needed a name for my new company and Rollermonkey fit the bill.
